Guests Will Want Something To Take Home With Them

When organizations book their conventions or meetings, their guest will want something to take home with them. That's where I come in. I provide caricaturing... with a twist. I not only draw cartoons of people, but my work also spotlights the event / occasion that brought them to their gathering location. When these visitors go home after their visit, they take home with them a memento that reminds them of the good time they had in the convention / meeting / trade show city because I…

Atta Boy

Here is the big question from a blog neophyte like myself. Will linking to another blog while doing a blog upset the space-time continuum? Better get braced because that is what's is going to happen here.

http://www.tourhendrickscounty.com/blog/?p=8818

I was so humbly honored to be included in Mr. Ivie's blog that I just HAD to share it here. Though one can…

Shop Small

On this Small Business Saturday I encourage everyone to go out and visit/shop your locally-owned "brick & mortar" businesses. You will probably find that those local shops take a genuine interest in you as a customer and a real person and not just walking $-sign.

Later, when you get the chance, stop by my web sites and discover how I can be of service to you and even promote your brand. I'd…

Exhibiting

Yesterday I had a nice meeting and discussion with Judy of Heirloom Classics (http://heirloom-classics.com/) about being involved in some events and exhibiting my artwork there. Stay tuned for more info on that. In the mean time, stop by her shop in Fountain Square. You'll be glad you did.…

Images With Text, a more complete message

Being a visual artist, I truly believe images and graphics in communications work to deliver a more complete message than text alone. That's not to mean that text alone cannot (or does not) have the potential for exceptionally weighty and informative stuff. Let's face it, where would we be today without novels, printed periodicals and informative blogs and, dare I say, textbooks (you wouldn't even know fully what I'm trying to communicate with THIS…

Baby-Steps

Yes, I may be a "low-tech" guy but I do realize (at times) when one needs to upgrade. Now I'm certainly not claiming that I have fully entered the 21st century concerning my electronic gadgets... but at least I am taking baby-steps in that direction.
Though my QR code above is not an electronic gadget, it is…

St. Patrick's Day Weekend... YEAH!

Saint Patrick's Day is coming up fast and I'm happy as a clam. Hmmmm... "why" you ask? Let me count the ways.

For starters, I have Irish heritage. Next, St. Pat's Day falls on a Saturday this year which makes it a St. Pat's Day weekend. Now, as a bagpiper this means three potential days of good fun, starting with a St. Patrick's Day Parade on Friday morning. Friday evening, as a caricaturist, I'm booked to do some caricaturing at a…

Livin' The Life.

Yep, livin' the life and happy as a clam... though truthfully, I have no idea why clams are supposed to be so happy and are used as an analogy to convey happiness. Nevertheless, I'm glad God put me on the visual arts path long, long ago and has blessed me with a good life in it. Nope... no stereotypical artist's angst here.

Cheers.

Great End to 2011, Great Start to 2012

The wrap-up of 2011 was a fun and exciting time both personally and professionally. My company, EssexArt ABC, LLC, was called upon to provide it's services deep into December for both reflective occasions and humorous art commissions. What makes me happy professionally also makes me happy personally.

Being fortunate enough to be doing what I absolutely love with my company brings me great personal satisfaction. Though I don't often quote him... okay, virtually never... Confucius…

Another Wedding Reception Caricaturing Gig

If there was ever a #1 place to be to have a good time, a wedding reception surely has to be up there in the rankings. It's a celebration full of happy, well wishing people. There is often music and revelry for hours on end. Most importantly of all, at the center of the gala is a happy couple starting out their new life together.

With all of those big smiles on near-deleriously happy people is it any wonder that wedding receptions make for a…

How much for your 2007 iPhone app?

When I was a kid I used to get together with my friends to compare and swap baseball cards. Oh how the times have changed.

This past weekend I was visiting family and had a chance to visit with my teenage nephew. I noticed he finally got the iPod Touch he had been wanting for a long time.

He was sitting next to me and I couldn't help but notice he was playing a game on his iPod Touch that I didn't have myself. I asked him the name of the game and, as soon as he told me, I… Continue
