Patric Welch Star in your own video game!

One of the many highlights for my kids in Disney World was when they got the chance to star in their own video game. They did this thanks to a place called ThinkPlace, sponsored by IBM, in Epcot. The steps required to star in your own video game are pretty simple. You just need to step inside a special photo booth and do the following:
  1. Run in place.
  2. Jump up in the air.
  3. Do a victory dance.
The result (for my 8-year-old) is this...… Continue

asa blevins Hoosiers in World of Warcraft Movie

There is a documentary called Second Skin that was released last month about MMORG. If you don’t know what that means..think World of Warcraft or Dungeons and Dragons. Three of the main subjects are from the Ft. Wayne. Who you can see in the clip below I’ve watched it, and despite some personal issues with the editing. Meaning it feels more like an episode of The Apprentice than a film documentary. I highly recommend the flick. Whether you rent it, or buy it, you won’t be w… Continue

Patric Welch How to make your happy birthday wishes really stand out

Over the weekend, I celebrated my 39th birthday. Amongst the very cool gifts I received from my family (like Wii Sports Resort), I also received some very creative online birthday wishes. Some of you emailed your birthday wishes to me. Some sent me eCards. Some of you wished me happy birthday on Facebook. Others on Twitter and Plaxo. But one particular birthday wish really stood out to me. And for several reasons. The first is that it was a personal video wishing me happy birthday. The second… Continue

Patric Welch TILTS: Remote kill switch for video games

When my kids play with their Nintendo DS, I'm convinced not even an earthquake could get their attention. Often I find myself repeating myself over and over until I finally demand they pause or turn off their games to listen to me. And even this is not a simple task. I can't possibly be the only parent who experiences this. So here's a technology I'd like to see (TILTS) that should solve the problem. I would like to see a video game remote kill switch. It would work something like this. When I… Continue

Ellen Dunnigan Everybody's Using Videos

Saw a couple of videos this morning from an intelligent and typically well-spoken business owner. Somehow he has experienced a disconnect between the use of videos as a "new, cool" medium and the use of videos as the best manner in which that specific message will be seen, heard, and UNDERSTOOD. He was positioned in front of a blah wall, his head was tilted nearly the entire time (which made it look as if he was questioning his own thoughts), and there was no passion or "oomph" or authority in h… Continue

Patric Welch I would have paid full price for just this one new iPhone feature

I love it when technology and simplicity come together. That's what Apple has accomplished with the new iPhone 3G S. Until the 3G S there was no way to capture video with your iPhone. Well, at least with the out-of-the-box iPhone. Not only did Apple add video capture and recording with the iPhone 3G S but Apple also made it drop-dead simple to share your recorded video with others. I found this out over the weekend when I shot my first video of my son jumping off a diving board at a public poo… Continue

It is important that I include what my purpose is in joining Small Indiana. My goal is to make contacts, whether it is friends, clients, working partners etc. It's all about who you know, then it's about what you can do. My interests lay within media. Call it interactive media, new media, creative media or whatever you know it by. I create videos, and animations. Let me explain that in a little more detail... Patric Welch Blockbuster is dead to me

have complained about Blockbuster in the past, but this recent chain of events just became the nail in the coffin. Every Friday I do a movie night with my kids. My two sons alternate each week to see who gets to pick the movie. Usually, I am prepared and have a movie on-hand from Netflix or I take my kids to our local Family Video store or a Redbox kiosk to get the movie. But last week was a hectic week and come Friday, I found myself unprepared and without a movie. My kids summer camp is just… Continue

David Anderson Activating your Marketing Efforts

I had the opportunity to listen to an interesting panel discussion the other day. The conversation was on the business of auto racing. As an avid IndyCar fan, I was an eager listener. Today’s world racing has being hit hard by the same recession we all have been living through. Much of the presentation focused on the benefits that sponsors received by supporting a racing team. All the panelists agreed that in addition to getting your name on a race car, it is important to have an ‘activation’ s… Continue

Matthew Hill What do you want to communicate?

The most important – and the first – thing you should think about as you begin your video production is the message that you are going to communicate. Many… Continue

Matthew Hill How do you use video for your organization?

How do you currently use professional video production? Hopefully you aren't still displaying that worn-out VHS tape that gets fuzzy around 3:24 and the audio drops out at 5:46! If you are still using materials like that then it is time to talk to SceneStream, a reliable and affordable Indiana video production company. We know that there is still a high value of satisfaction of holding your VHS tape or D… Continue

Patric Welch Stop missing the last few minutes of your favorite television shows

Digital video recorders like TiVo have totally revolutionized the way we watch television. We now can watch television whenever we want and darn near anywhere we want. But that doesn't mean the technology is flawless. Take for instance the question I often receive in my classes when I talk about TiVo. The question is whether or not TiVo is "smart enough" to know when the President is speaking or a football game is running late which causes television shows to be off their standard programming s… Continue
