Smaller Indiana

Making people and ideas findable

I have some folks I follow on Twitter, not for the conversation, but as a feed of what they post elsewhere on the web and the like. It takes the place of RSS for me, just another presentation of what I might see in a more screen-hogging fashion on my RSS reader. Here's my list.

bbctech
BarackObama
CNETNews
cnnbrk
cnn
engadget
MarsPhoenix
NASA
hpnews
NewYorkerDotCom
nprpolitics
Techmeme
nytimes
TheOnion
woot

Do you have some that you would recommend I add to those I follow? What is cool is which ones you wind up actually being able to engage in the conversation some times as well! It's all so 'vogue and rogue' to be out there for some, to be able to tell these folks what you think in a way that you know might actually get notice in an instant.

I'll follow up with a list of Social Media folks I follow soon.

@Robyn You should install TweetDeck. It let's you filter the Twitter traffic to your favorites or any other filter you want. Helps cut down on the noise.

@Jim Only a bit head like you or me would know how to mask John McCain's Twitter feed under a "good one" hyperlink. lol

Good suggestion. My Friend feed is very noisy, but I routinely trim my Twitter. I did add Obama and TheOnion. Thanks!

Lorraine, I have Doug and Kyle too. I'm finally getting used to the flood, so I may start adding more locals. Frankly, I don't check it constantly, so the 'conversation' type ones are harder, what with the 'national' Social Media gurus/media/personalities being so noisy. I've been thinking of taking the gurus off my twitter stream that are on FriendFeed to make it easier to peruse.

thanks so much. This was awesome. i am not sure i want to follow all of these, but what a great list to start with. I have used Twitter to follow friends, and technology. Never thought of it as a news sources.

On social Media, i like Doug karr and kyle Lacy

If that was actually John McCain or his official campaign, I might follow it! But it's not.
