Really, I wasn’t sure what to expect at the Beef & Boards (B&B) showing of “The Producers!” I am a fan of the theatre, even so much so that I find myself there every 4-6 weeks as a VIP member taking in every show that plays. With the VIP pass we get ½ off throughout the year. We are avid fans, and pre-pay the entire year with our tax return – that’s how much we enjoy ourselves.
Last night I was invited out by the sister of the B&B’s owner. Amy Stark asked me to participate in a round-table blogger-fest to report on the show, if you will. Being a fan already, I was “in” from the words “B&B.” The group if SI-ites was fun to chat it up with as well, even though Amy and I are not on the same school of thought re: net neutrality!
The food is always great, and that’s what I love to write about! Carved Roast, Steamed Peas and Baby Carrots, Potato Pancakes, Fish, Chicken, Salad Bar, Bread… you know what I look forward to? And I was running a little late, so I was really nervous that Amy, Scott, and Rae might eat my share! It’s the little monkey bowl of cheddar cheese spread for the crackers!! I just love it – I know, easy to please, and a little cheesy at the same time – LOL.
The show… Cool stuff. The Producers is edgy, so I’m not sure it’s for the little munchkins. But if you like it a little racy you’ll have a hoot of a time. There’s an interesting plot a foot… the actual Hitler character certainly doesn’t seem fitting – but that’s a large part of the hysteria in which I’ll remain silent on for you to check it out.
On the critical side… the musician within (or shall I say the dictation and music theory classes) has allowed me to train my ear, and often times I’m disappointed at theatres across the Country. At B&B’s, the music is always spot-on and at this show, the vocals are quite good too. Some really great spots of harmonious genius in fact. The actors are fun, lively, upbeat, and will set your funny bone to stir.
Do yourself, your family, and your friends a favor… take an evening out with the significant other or some friends and go enjoy yourself at the show. You’ll not regret it. Think of me when you sit down to that bright orange cheddar!
PS: Try a Burnt Almond at Intermission. Yummy good.
One last thing... I'll be back at this production on next Wednesday the 20th of August. My wife and I have a box-seat for our anniversary. But, if you are there that night, look me up... and say "hi."
