Making people and ideas findable

Joel Smith

The Believe Academy needs YOUR help, today.

Believe Academy is a fifth grade program in Indianapolis that is housed at the Julian D. Coleman building. The Academy is committed to creating college-bound students with the academic and character skills necessary to become the future leaders of Indianapolis. Believe Academy provides outstanding educators, a strong culture of achievement and support , and a rigorous curriculum.

Students who have consistently adhered to the Academy's extremely high standards throughout the school year are rewarded with a free* trip to Washington, D.C. Excellent behavior and high-quality class work top the list, along with receiving recommendations from teachers and completing homework regularly. Students must also make appropriate choices at school and at home to earn the trip. While in D.C., the students visit a variety of historical places, such as the Lincoln Memorial, the Library of Congress, and the Capitol Building, as well as a tour of Howard University and the Smithsonian museums. Throughout the year in Social Studies, students study American government and the history of our nation. The D.C.
trip helps the students connect to the material and bring learning to life!

*Now, we all know that nothing in life is free. The cost per student for the trip to D.C. is $500, and the students' families are not asked to cover the costs. The trip is funded by sponsorships from individuals and corporations that wish to better public education and believe that all children deserve an enriched educational experience. It was brought to my attention yesterday that the Academy is $12,000 short of the $24,000 needed to fund the D.C. trip. Adding to the challenge is a tight deadline: May 22nd.

The Believe Academy is a program that is very near and dear to our hearts here at Pixel Envy Designs. I'm asking each of you to please consider becoming a sponsor. Any dollar amount is truly appreciated and will bring the Academy that much closer to making the D.C. trip a reality for these students!

Due to the tight deadline, I am willing to pick up donations and deliver them to the Academy or do whatever it takes to help them reach their goal!

If you have any questions, please contact Lisa Pellam at (317) 989.2373 or you can drop her an e-mail at lisa@pixelenvy.net .

Thank you and warm regards,

Joel R. Smith

Help

A few things to consider before joining Smaller Indiana:
1. Please use your real name (first and last) when you sign up, or we cannot open your account

2. Please do not use logos or commercial images for your profile photo

3. Events should be posted in the events calendar

4. You can post pretty much anything you want on your own personal page (self promotion, etc), and you can change the style of your personal profile page to reflect your corporate identification if you so choose.

5. Please keep all comments civil and polite. It's OK to feel strongly about a subject, and it's OK to be critical of ideas, but please refrain from personal attacks of any kind.

If you witness or experience any issues, please contact admin@smallerindiana.com and we will look into the matter.

6. "Blatant self-promotion" is discouraged on SI, and "spam" is not welcome. Please be considerate of your fellow members.

7. Display ads (graphic banners designed to promote your business) can only live on your own profile page, unless you are an approved sponsor of Sponsor of Smaller Indiana.

Smaller Indiana is supported by its members, and by corporate sponsors. If you're interested in learning more about sponsorship, please call Pat Coyle at 317 332 7878.
