I would be curious to hear if the members of this social network are standard employees, supervisors, etc? I would guess there are more supervisors on this network, which I'm sure supervisors have a smaller turnover rate than a standard employee.

The Social Network researcher says - Can I see the data of their study? How do they operationalize "engaged"? Can they form friendships, groups in an open way?

I think that a social network for any organization or company is going to help members or employees maintain a closeness, a sense of being in the loop, that you otherwise wouldn't get without one. Not to mention, being able to see the latest job postings, birthdays, outstanding employee recognition, possible extra-curricular activities....

Hey, as much as people love Smaller Indiana and MySpace type sites, if their employer had their own..... You can bet that people would be happy to come into work just to catch up on what's going on!-and of course.... work... :)

Wiat, you have multiple social networks, and you do work the hours your want.. so is it the geeky shoes you are hoping for?

after hearing and reading about this, I think I need to get a job at Best Buy. Screw all this entrepreneurship stuff.

That was a joke but still.

And best buy is also experimenting with letting employees work whatever hours they want, aren't they?

This reminds me of case studies I've read about Best Buy's "Geek Squad". They claim that the geeks have an affinity group and the camaraderie inreases job satisfaction. Imagine that!
