Thoughts on the "Coexist" Bumper Sticker (part 2) The Search for Harmony

Since we have maximized the amount of posting space that will appear in the SI forum, and although the discussion continues, I thought it would be good to start a new one. I invite all of those who have posted before and have been following and those who are new to continue the discussion that Kyle Lacy started. In an attempt to keep it to the Nature of SI... Here are some ground rules for this blog that I hope everyone can respect.

1. Keep it clean (no cheap shots and hitting below the belt)
2. Keep it REAL (whatever that means... I dont really know, but it seemed like a good place to say that)
3. Keep it going :o) ( although some may be more long winded than others, that doesn't mean they are experts or smarter, or have more credibility than others... looking objectively at those who post, I think we can draw our own conclusions about others without being judgemental.
4. Come Clean: Try to be clear... If you come to realize that you may have mispoke or came accross wrong, admit it, apologize, ask for forgiveness, move on.
5. Seek Truth: Look for truth in what everyone posts and throw out the rest. Truth is in us and around us and no one person posseses all truth and all knowing, we can all learn from each other, no matter how different.
6. Love Conquers all: keep a spirit of love for one another, no matter how different and allow each other to express them selves and their thoughts.

I think that is a good place to start... What do ya'll think? I think whether we like it or not, we already have to coexist, it is a matter up to us to decide how that coexistence will look like. One of harmony despite differences or one of discord... you reap what you sow... So lets start sowing some seeds that our children are proud of.

FInally: When are we going to Shoot the Video? I am Serious... it would be so much fun : I still think I could be bruce springstein and the rest of you all can be whoever... I would like to see Lorraine with pink hair.

Regarding Censorship:

I think that sometimes censorship is good. given the above rules... if someone who is not aggressive sees these blogs and has thoughts... knowing that they will not be attacked will give opportunity for them to open up and share what they think... usually people who are quiet think about things differently than those of us (guilty) who talk a lot. When the saphires and the Ruby's hog the conversation, the others pull back and we lose their contribution.

Plus I am still working on Brandon's question from half way through the last blog. I havn't responded yet, because I don't know the answer to his question and his comments were not sufficient enough to persuade me one way or another... they were kind of open.

...except that you've been completely hypocritical. I'll go elsewhere, thanks.

Open and honest conversation does breed intelligence and that is where your forum went...you laid some ground rules in the beginning of what it was not supposed to be. I did the same here... the deletions were not a sneak attack... I was just holding true to what I committed to in the beginning.

Joe... you have brought up some very good points that deserve addressing and attention. I really like your ability to pay attention to details... it helps me choose my words more carefully, for that I thank you. I hope that you can bring them up again in this setting without being a DICK about it. What do you say?

Kyle,

I never said this was an open forum... I clearly outlined the rules for this forum at the beginning of the blog post. Those who choose to follow those rules are free to post on this forum, those who don't including myself get deleted.

Joe, welcome back... really, I mean it. I commit to the above "rules of engagement" I give myself over to you and the others for accountability. You and anyone else can expect the same from me and others.

niiiiiiiiiice. would expect nothing else.

That's fine Ben.. but it takes away from your credibility as an open forum. Open and honest conversation breeds intelligence and, in my humble opinion, you have taken away from that. You can't have an open forum with censorship. I don't care who was right or who was wrong.

Kyle,
You are right... we both did, but he wasn't willing to admit it and I was so I deleted both of our statements.. for both of our good.

Nila :o) Smiles is all I can say. I like what you bring to the table... may not agree with you, but I like what you bring and how you bring it.. you go girl :o)

Sassy? Hmmm. I'm not sure I've ever been told that one before. 41 years and I can still be surprised!
Kyle Lacy Comment by Kyle Lacy on February 23, 2008 at 6:13pm
I am pretty sure you both acted out of context. You both were attacking each other. I just don't agree with editing an open forum, that's all.
