Making people and ideas findable

I can't remember what I was dreaming about before the armoire in our master bedroom started shaking and squeaking. The bed shook too, but I was more concerned about our tall headboard toppling down. What was happening?!

I'm usually the only one in our house who hears strange noises in the dark, but this time my husband was a witness. And our 7-year-old daughter, who had crawled into bed with us earlier that night, experienced it as well. At first I thought it was high winds, but one look out the window negated that theory. The word "earthquake" flashed through my mind, but I dismissed it as ridiculous. And, dare I say, I also considered the possibility of spiritual forces. Mind you, it was early, I was groggy and I had no frame of reference for this kind of thing.

To my relief, the bright-eyed newscasters on WTHR told me I was not alone. That many other people awoke to the scary shaking. Whew!

I'm sure I won't be the only one who Googles the New Madrid Fault.

There was an earthquake?

Huh. I slept right through it.

This is the second earthquake that I remember since I've been in Indiana. I didn't feel either of them... So interesting to wake up and watch the news and see that we had another...Hope you are all safe!

It actually woke me up. Right at 5:30. It felt like the bed was shaking, then the whole house creaked a bit. My first thought was "earthquake" because I remember my wife lived here several years ago when another one came through the area.

I absolutely felt the earthquake. 5:35am on my clock radio. The bed started to shake a little bit which woke me up. Then the doors rattled in the house but only for a few seconds. Earthquakes in Indiana? I don't even want to know what's next.

I saw a joke tagline once that said "Indiana: Hurricane free for 1 billion years." I think if we ever have a hurricane, I'm looking for the guy with the big boat and a keen interest in animal husbandry.

My wife woke me up as the dogs started to growl and bark. I remember there being an earthquake here in the late 80's, but didn't feel the tremors up north in my hometown.

I'm enjoying watching the tales grow taller as the day goes on. I fully expect to hear some eye witness testimonial by the end of the day from someone that was thrown across his or her room by the earthquake. Too bad they didn't implode the RCA Dome at 5:30am. They could have blamed it on the earthquake and made out big.

Come to think of it... I did wake up on the floor across the room :-)

I don't know about you, but I just felt an aftershock around 11:15 a.m. --- Gulp!
