Smaller Indiana

Making people and ideas findable

Stephen James

If this is not a demographically skewed primary, I don't know what is

I woke up this morning to this map at CNN's website:

Lake, St. Joseph, Elkart, Allen, Tippecanoe, Hamilton, Boone, Hamilton, Marion, and Monroe counties were won by Obama and the rest were won by Clinton. Not much of a surprise.

Also, does anyone have any "Operation Chaos" anecdotes? I believe it's unethical, but I am curious if anyone has friends that crossed party lines to make the Democratic race tighter (and longer).

I have a friend who did the Op Chaos thing. According to some analysis I've seen, about 7% of Hillary's total was crossover Republicans or independents who did not support her, but were voting for her to be troublesome. In other words, without them, Obama would have won by 5% rather than losing by 2%.

That map, like the US map "blue vs red" map, distorts reality. The 90/10 reflects geography, true, but does not reflect where people actually live.

I found that map really interesting too. It reminds me of the national map on election eve when 90% of the land mass in the US is red but the 10% that is blue makes the electoral vote 50/50. Obama almost pulled this one out too...
