Making people and ideas findable

Kyle Lacy asked me to share 7 things about myself. And I think if Kyle Lacy asks you to do something on SI, it is probably a pretty good idea to do it! So enjoy the Seven Random Facts about me.

1. I’m the Chapter Advisor for my sorority (Alpha Xi Delta) at Purdue. I went to IU, but come from a long line of Boilermakers. This is my way of getting back on their good side.

2. I went to El Salvador twice in high school. No running water. I helped carry a transformer up the side of a mountain. Saw where Archbishop Romero was assassinated. Passed out in a cemetery. It was awesome.

3. I throw really great parties. I love having an excuse to cook a ridiculous amount of food and see how many people we can cram in our house. And I have awesome friends, so that helps…which leads me to #4.

4. I have a very close group of friends. We get together at least twice a week, and usually it is more like three. I can’t imagine what any of our lives would be like without the group. I read somewhere that the number of close friendships that you have is directly related to your health and happiness. No doubt that this is true for me.

5. I love country music. It is all I listen too. But don’t ask me who sings what or what the name of this or that song is. I just listen to it. I don’t know anything about it. Because of this I don’t own an iPod and the only CD I have bought in the last 10 years is Alabama Christmas. I just listen to the radio.

6. I’m a big fan of Weight Watchers. I joined about a year and half ago. If anyone is thinking of carrying through with a New Year’s resolution to get healthy WW is a great place to start.

7. I really love my husband. I know that seems like it should go without saying, but seriously you’ve got to meet him. He is kind of a big deal. : )

And now it is my turn! I am calling out these 7 people to share 7 things about themselves. I’m looking forward to getting to know more about each of you! I’ll admit I know a couple of these people pretty well, but as I said my friends (and family!) are awesome so I’m sure you will enjoy getting to know them better.

I would encourage the two of you (Scott and Kristie) To post the seven things out on your blog for the main page to see. :-) Much like Allison did.

Allison: I like them. Except for the country music part. :-)

OK, so now I guess it is my turn! Thank you Allison for sending this to me!

1. First and foremost, I love my family! I am married to a wonderful husband (Mark) and have two great kids, Nathan (almost 6 yrs old) and Lisa (3 yrs. old). I have an awesome younger sister (Angie) and brother (Andy)!

2. My husband Mark is very understanding and knows that I have to get out there in order to grow my business! He makes sure that he takes care of the kids at least two days a week so that I can attend events!

2. I wish I saw my family more! Most of my family is down south so I do not see them very often! I do have a brother and sister-in-law that live in Fishers! I wish I spent more time with them and my kids got to know them more and vise versa!!

3. I used to be a special education teacher. I was a teacher for 7 years before I stayed home to grow my business and raise my family.

4. I am from Southern Indiana- Evansville area - and almost all of my family still lives down there. Excluding my sister and her family (in St. Louis) and my brother and his wife, Allison (in Fishers)

5. I love networking and meeting new people! Anyone who knew me in my teaching years will be really surprised about this but it is true! I love getting out and meeting new people and then figuring out how I can connect them to others!

6. I have a great group of friends! Many are from networking and then others from when I moved to Indianapolis! They really made me feel at home when I was 3 1/2 hours away!

7. Allison Witmeier is my sister in law! She is married to my great "YOUNGER Brother"! Which I love to say because he is much bigger than me! If anyone knows him, "He is kinda of big deal" Or so he says! I grew up with him and can tell stories otherwise!

3. Am the chair at the Greenwood Rainmakers event. Approaching two years at it and it has been a great ride.
4. Raised Texan (though born in Massachusetts) the Army sent us here is 1992 and we just stayed. Great place but my heart is still in the Texas Panhandle.
