I Refuse to Participate in a Recession

One of the speakers, at the iLearningGlobal Launch Conference in Vegas last month, was Ivan Misner. Ivan is the Founder & Chairman of BNI, the world’s larges business networking organization. And Ivan Miser spoke on refusing to participate in a recession.

I know, you are probably like me…”This guy is ignoring the reality that the rest of us have to live in”.

But the message is not about ignoring reality. If the reality is that you need to get a part time job to get through this recession, then do it. And then get over it.

No, the message isn’t about ignoring reality, it’s about taking on “the attitude” that your refuse to participate.

Ivan tells of a real estate professional who had his best year ever during the bottom of the real estate market. How? He refused to participate. He went back to a list of over 100 previous clients and told them, “We are having a half off price sale. You have avoided investing for years saying the market is to high, well guess what? It’s on sale. And I don’t want you coming to me 3 to 5 years from now crying about how you should have bought now.”

Just that simple. Seeing and taking advantage of the opportunities instead of seeing only problems.

What was my take away? What can I implement this week? IMPLEMENTATION IS EVERYTHING

I am taking on the attitude that I refuse to participate in the recession.
• I will look for opportunities when others see gloom & doom
• I will let others worry about the Macro economic picture
o I will focus on my own Micro economic picture, which I know better than anyone else.
• The more you focus on fear, the more afraid you will become
• The more you focus on obstacles the larger they will loom
• The more you focus on today’s economic gloom and doom headlines, the less time, energy, and faith you will have to build the successful business you really want.
• I will become someone who sees opportunities when others see problems
• I will become someone who seeks growth when others expect collapse
• I will become someone who sees success when others see failure.

Hhmmm? I feel kind of energized (empowered) just by reading all that. How about you?

Come join me as I engage in this new attitude. An attitude of possibilities.

Time to take ACTION!
