Share Your Most Successful Design Projects

Lately we’ve been talking a lot about the elements of a successful design project. We thought it would be interesting, and helpful to other readers, to hear a bit more about other folk’s successes and how they were achieved. Tell us about the client, the challenge, and the solution.

Any type of design project is fair game, including:
• Corporate identity
• User interfaces
• Concept prototypes
• Environments
• Service experiences
• Web sites
• Etc.

The following are a few questions to get your juices flowing:
• What was your most successful design project
• Tell us what criteria you used to evaluate it’s success
• Tell us about the problem that was solved
• Tell us a bit about the process you (or your firm) went through
• Include a link to a case study or blog post if you have one available

If you have something to share, respond here and be sure to post your comments at: http://bit.ly/4vEUge as well.

@David – I definitely think people count as design projects.

During my time at Community we did a couple of versions of eCommunity.com. The current version was a great success, we did a great job of further integrating Community's brand while implementing an open enough site design to accommodate individual business unit's desire for an individualized site.

for over 12 years my design project had been people. Helping them grow inside with great self confidence that they approached life with clearer vision and less negativity. Too numerous in number and too private to name names so does that count?

Kristian,

You sure may! I just forgot to add it myself.

Chris:
Could I post your response on our corporate blog as well?

I think the launching of bluerivernursery.com was by far my most successful and yet challenging project in the last 12 months. It all actually started in September of 2008 but carried well over into February of 2009 for technical reasons.

CHALLENGE
Take a templated, boring and hardly functional ecommerce website and turn it back into a functional shopping cart while at the same time making it more appealing to visitors.

SUCCESS
True success can't be measured in dollars and cents at this point because it's still very new. The client has made money, but it still needs to be marketed more heavily to give it more exposure

RELATIONSHIP BUILDING
Out of every single client I have ever dealt with, I will say that Gonink can now call this nursery a long term partner in our business as much as we are a partner in theirs. I mesh extremely well with the owner and get along great with their entire staff. Through serious technical challenges and certain time constraints we somehow find a way to make it all work for the betterment of everyone involved.
