Smaller Indiana

Making people and ideas findable

I work at the Indiana Office of Tourism Development (blog) and the ultimate goal of our office is to promote tourism in Indiana. At this time of year, Indiana has some great fall travel opportunities available, and we need your help. Like many other organizations, we need to maximize our impact and want to reach out to all Smoosiers and ask for your help. Tourism is big business in Indiana, attracting more than 62 million visitors and generating more than $10 billion in economic impact each year. Indiana's tourism industry employs more 257,000 Hoosiers! Here's where you come in. We're looking for Smoosiers to start making noise online about Indiana. We want you to blog, tweet and share photos about your experiences, your favorite events and attractions, and everything you love about the fall in Indiana.

The first step is to join the Indiana Leaf Cam group. Once you've joined, we want you to talk about your favorite fall activities in Indiana. Whether that's a day-long hike in Clifty Falls State Park or driving the backroads in the fall to view the leaves, we want to hear about your travels throughout Indiana. We've started the #LeafCam hashtag on Twitter and the LeafCam tag on Flickr. You can also blog about the Leaf Cam or join our Facebook Group and tell us about your travels in Indiana. Just be sure to link off to visitindiana.com or visitindiana.com/leafcam/

The first prize we're giving away for the Smaller Indiana / Visit Indiana Leaf Cam Promotion is a one- or two-night stay (based on availability) at Patoka's Edge.

Patoka's Edge is a 3-bedroom home that sleeps 8 (1 king bed, 2 twin beds, 2 queen beds). Fully furnished, it comes with a washer and dryer. Just bring food, paper towels and personal toiletries. Within walking distance from lake, with a private outdoor hot tub on an open deck. Don't forget your fishing pole for the private fishing pond. Patoka's Edge is located about 17 miles from French Lick Resort. (Click here for more pictures and info about Patoka's Edge.)

Rooms available: October 18-22, 25-28

Be sure to join the Indiana Leaf Cam group to get more details about the Leaf Cam promotion. Also, check out our 2009 Indiana Leaf Cam, and our blog, the Indiana Insider.

Good luck!

A few things to consider before joining Smaller Indiana:
1. Please use your real name (first and last) when you sign up, or we cannot open your account

2. Please do not use logos or commercial images for your profile photo

3. Events should be posted in the events calendar

4. You can post pretty much anything you want on your own personal page (self promotion, etc), and you can change the style of your personal profile page to reflect your corporate identification if you so choose.

5. Please keep all comments civil and polite. It's OK to feel strongly about a subject, and it's OK to be critical of ideas, but please refrain from personal attacks of any kind.

If you witness or experience any issues, please contact admin@smallerindiana.com and we will look into the matter.

6. Smaller Indiana is supported by its members, and by corporate sponsors. If you're interested in learning more about sponsorship, please call Pat Coyle at 317 332 7878.
