Smaller Indiana

Making people and ideas findable

Locally owned, Cha Cha, has recently released a free, mobile search service. Text any question to 242242 and a human will send you the answer within a few minutes. You can also call 800-2-chacha (242242) and they'll text you a response. This service is very cool and works quite well...try it out for yourself...and let's talk here about ways Cha Cha can help Smoosiers stay better informed and better connected. For examples, check out what Cha Cha did at the Sundance Film Festival and South-by-Southwest conferences...and imagine...oh, and BTW, Cha Cha just won an award at the big mobile show, CTIA...

I absolutely love ChaCha's new text service. Best way ever to settle sports trivia debates when watching the game. Probably some great serious applications as well.

I've followed ChaCha for a couple of years now, and am glad they FINALLY got away from Human Guided online search. The model doesn't work. I know Scott is a really smart guy... but Human Guided search???

Anyway... the mobile version of their service is GREAT! I've used it religiously for the last couple of months and absolutely love it.

Now the question... where does the revenue come from???

Reply to This

Text ads served based on what they know about the person: what they're searching for, where they are on the planet, who they're near, etc.

Hmmm.... will that ad come as part of their response? Or, will it be a separate message? If it is the latter... isn't that going to be a 'cost' to the recipient? They didn't ask for the second text message.

Part of the response...but not turned on yet

Would Cha Cha be interested in being part of BlogIN???Seems like the dialed in, connected audience might be a good fit for them.

There is also an experimental Twitter-based ChaCha service.

Submit your question via direct message to @chacha.

Hello All! Just a quick thanks to everyone for all the interest and continued use of ChaCha. AND ChaCha is also following Smaller Indiana! We have several employees that are members here, including myself. I'm open to any ideas on ways that Smaller Indiana and ChaCha can team up to promote technology in Indiana.

Thanks!
