Plugins: What Are You Packin'?

One of the greatest things about Wordpress is the plethora of available third party plugins, gadgets, widgets, gizmos and hacks that the pantheon of users have created for the world's best blogging platform. I use a variety of different plugins and am always on the search for new ones to try out. If Wordpress is the blogging equivalent of a suit, then the plugins available are the shirt, tie, cufflinks and shoes that you wear to go with it.

I use a variety of different plugins, and each of my WP installations is like a different child with different tastes and talents. Besides the included Akismet plugin (a godsend) I also frequently use the Sociable bookmarklet plugin that gives you the string of different social bookmarking and sharing service icons at the end of a post. I also recently have been testing the Talkr plugin/service that turns your Wordpress blog posts into computer voiced podcasts automagically.

Some of the other plugins I use are:

Autometa - calculates Technorati tags for every post based on the content of your posts
Awesome News Announcement
- a front page news ticker plugin
Favicon Manager - allows you to manage your favicon icon in the address bar of your visitor's browsers
Google/XML Sitemap Generator - a great way to optimize your Wordpress site for easy spidering by Google and other search engines.
Podpress - a fantastic plugin for embedding audio into a post
Wordbook - A plugin that automagically posts your Wordpress blog entries to your Facebook account feed directly

So....spill it! What are you packin'?

OK, right now to me you are speaking a foreign language. Can you tell me a nit more about what these do and how I get them, and maybe recommendations of what I need?

Are you on Wordpress.org? Because I don't have a plugins tab, and when I did a search, I found out that Wordpress.com doesn't allow plugins.

I figured out once how to insert a link to Digg, but it was so complicated that I haven't tried it again!
