There are tons of fun things to do in Chicago! I was just there this weekend. What kind of activities are you interested in? Things for kids? Adult activities?
Navy Pier is always a favorite destination. Like every tourist destination they'll be crowded for a holiday weekend, but then it is Chicago. They have fireworks every Saturday and I think there is a special display Memorial day weekend.
Chicago has a great Memorial Day parade as well. I think it's being billed as the largest in the country. The parade is on Saturday.
I like going to the different ethnic neighborhoods, Chinatown, Greektown, Little Italy, etc. I also enjoy the Maxwell Street Market. It was much better before they relocated it but it's still fun.
The lakeshore is great just to get out and walk around. There are places you can rent bicycles and a great path along the lake. There are tons of great museums, fabulous restaurants, theatres, stunning architecture, I could go on and on. The options are endless! Feel free to contact me directly if I can be of more assistance.

A- I tried checking out the website you suggested, and entering the dates that I'll be in town, but the calendar isn't working for me for some reason... I'll just explore it a little more and hopefully find something!
J-Oh Yay! Fireworks over Lake Michigan! How romantic does that sound!!... :) I'm definitely in need of some outdoor, live music, adult, relaxing activities... or un-activities should I say..
I'm excited at how this weekend is going to play out for me! I was really dreading heading north for the holiday weekend, for the entire weekend for wedding activities, but it sounds like it is turning out beautifully!

One word of caution, I-65 is closed north of the 80/94 exit, so expect traffic delays. Once I got onto 94 east though, it was smooth sailing all the way to the Windy City!
