A True Smaller Indiana Moment

So I had the good fortune to attend a SI life sciences discussion kindly hosted by Jack Pincus, where I got to meet a few Smaller Indiana folks in person. Imagine to my surprise discovering that Bruce LaDuke went to my high school. That probably wouldn't mean much if it were North Central, but we're talking South Central Junior-Senior High School in Elizabeth, Indiana, about as far from Indianapolis as you can be and still be in the state. The average class size there was, at least when I gradua… Continue

That's great to hear that you are already active with HEC. Did you get a chance to attend the Earth Day Indiana festivities downtown Saturday? There was quite a turnout. I had the opportunity to speak with a few of the HEC members and it sounds like they will be planning a monthly meeting if you would be interested in contributing your thoughts to the group.

Althought remaining active in the community is something I enjoy, it is not my day job. I represent a company that specializes in men's custom tailored business clothing, so I can relate to your passion for a tailored appearence. If you would be interested in a tour of our facility the next time your are on the Northside, please feel free to contact me.

I apologize for not reading your profile ahead of time, but after doing so I thought you might have an interest in HEC, Hoosier Environmental Council. I attended one of thier events last night, and transportation was a huge topic of the discussion. SI member Maya Worman would be a great person to introduce you!

Thank you for your comment Aaron. I agree with you, personally I enjoy wearing a tie. It adds something to my overall professionalism when I know I have a good one on. They often even serve as an ice breaker/conversation piece. And who doesn't like receiving the "great tie" compliment!

aaron, thanks so much for stopping by my blog! good for you for being a fashion fan - we need all the support we can get! Totally off the cuff: I wonder if there's any benefit to your co to provide sponsorship to local fashion-related events? any thoughts?

Aaron,

It was great meeting you too. I haven't been back to southern Indiana in quite some time. I did see the golf course when it was first built several years ago and that blew my mind too. When I was young, we lived just down the road that goes straight at Baker's corner (the big curve before you get to the golf course). I remember walking out the back door and crossing a field to go squirrel hunting.

For me personally, those were both the best of times and worst of times. I have a lot of fond memories though and it's kind of an shame to see it changing.
