I am a big fan of Smoke Free. I use to be a smoker in my USMC days and I quit when my daughter learned in kindergarten that smoking makes your heart sick and she came home and told me at the dinner table (with crying, I might add). Anyway, that was all I needed and I've been smoke free ever since. 8 years now. Be Strong. You are doing a great work.
Respect,
-Gavin

I'm a DePauw alum, but I know St. Joe's very well. First, my aunt was the president's secretary there for YEARS back in the 60s and 70s. Next, my great grandfather was the mayor of Rennsallaer (I can never spell that right) and my grandfather went to college there. He turned down a contract to play baseball with the Cardinals and became the first Protestant athlete in the US to get an athletic scholarship from a Catholic university. He played football and baseball and actually started at first base against future Brooklyn/LA Dodger great Gil Hodges. However, his college career was cut short by WWII and he never graduated. In the mid-1990s, he and several of his classmates were given honorary degrees in a special ceremony to replace the degrees they would have gotten had they not left for war.

For many years after that, as the radio play by play voice for WGFA in Watseka, IL, he called MANY St. Joe basketball and football games against such schools as Valpo, DePauw, Illinois Wesleyan, and Butler.

Go Pumas.

Great idea for a company! There's a lot of work to be done getting folks to quit and cleaning our air. Do you know if there are employment opportunities for web designers at Smoke Free Indy? Cheers, Dan

Thanks, Liza. I'm a big fan of Fort Wayne's smoking ban and I'd love to see it adopted elsewhere. The group on SI is a great way to get people thinking.

I have never seen anything positive come out of smoking. It harms not only the consumer but those around them. For all of the outcry about the bans, the reports I have seen on the overall outcome has been that businesses have not been affected.

Hi! I am all for nonsmoking places. That was the beauty of going and visiting friends in Bloomington and going to their bars. All non-smoking. And the funny thing is hasn't hurt their business at all. People still go to the bars, and they don't care about the non-smoking. Now if the rest of the state would get that way we'd be all good!
