THE VALUE OF A COIN

Sitting on the floor in our living room, watching cartoons, I could hear him coming. At the age of 4, my father was the light of my life. With each footstep, I heard the jingle-jangle of the change he always carried in his pocket. He was a carpenter, and worked in a very hot… Continue

REJECTION AND WHAT TO DO WITH IT

Rejection. Its not a four letter word but it can feel like a four-pronged fork shot through your heart when you receive it. A guy in high school feels it when he tries to be friendly to a pretty girl who has designs for someone other than him. An athlete feels it… Continue

A GUY NAMED JIM

I'd like to introduce you all to Jim. He's a 40-something guy who has a million Star Wars figures that he has collected over the years. He also builds computers, can repair anything around the house, is passionate about music. He's a musician, and his arm pits smell like… Continue

TWO SPECIAL "N'S" ON A VERY SPECIAL DAY

My Grandmother and my youngest son Noah both celebrate their birthdays today. I am spending an entire day with Noah and haven't seen my grandmother in a very long time. I miss her very much. Something I do every year with Noah though, is to share with him about his great grandmother.… Continue

Thoughts as a Mom...

As I was getting Emma dressed one morning, I asked my little one about her pretty pink top, which had diamond-like buttons. “They’re so pretty Emma. They look just like diamonds!” With big round eyes she looked up at me and replied “Yep! They are not the pully-kind of buttons (she me… Continue

Hi Wanda, Pat just put up a page for the film festival. Just go check it out and see which films you want to cover. Then drop me (or the other venue captain) a note letting them know which ones. And you're all set.

Wanda -- Saw this in the Star this morning and thought of you:

New Eastside cafe opens today
The East 10th Street Civic Association is bubbling about the opening today of the J.S. Reutz Caf in the John H. Boner Community Center on the Eastside. Run by Jeff Reuter, the deli-style breakfast and lunch spot includes free gallery space for local artists.

Not sure what the definition of "local" is --- from the neighborhood or from Indianapolis, but thought I'd pass it along.

Wanda - Thanks for your posting. Actually my brother is the artist and we own a gallery in Mexico (the website is for the gallery). My family is very active in the arts community (both visual and performing).

I look forward to our paths crossing soon!

Best,

You are welcome. It caught my eye because I had a similar experience once. I didn't rebound as fast as you seem to have so, I was impressed. Inner peace can be a slippery devil! : )

Thanks for your very sweet comments and for taking the time to read one of my articles on my website. If you would like to learn more about my unusual childhood, please read "Noah Rode Out Storm To Thrive" by Tim Swarens which was published in the Indianapolis Star, 1998. It is on my main website under "more about Dr. Noah". Again, only if you are interested. Thanks again and please stay in touch.
