What is an indyguru?

I created indygurus.ning.com a few years ago with the idea of developing a website for professionals to list their services and refer clients to each other. Due to various reasons, the site never got off the ground. But I maintained the indygurus.com domain and the dream of developing indygurus into some sort of viable enterprise.

Then I found smallerindiana. I realized how powerful ning is and I knew that indygurus had found a home. I have a strong desire to create new things. Every now and then some silly idea for something new will pop up in my head. indygurus gives me the chance to elaborate on the idea and bring others into the creation process.

I hope you will join me on indygurus to help me in this wonderful process.

Thanks,
Tim.

A Macro-sized Economic Headache

Well, my head is spinning. It's really not surprising, with the Dow taking 3 digit swings day after day. Nothing the congress proposes seems to be able to staunch the bleeding. Oh, yes, now we have pirates taking over oil tankers. Al Franken might actually sit in the senate! Will the madness ever end? And I wonder if we really understand what started this whole mess. I've read all the supposed reasons that the economy is in this nosedive. I've listened to Henry Paulson, Ben Bernanke, and Barney… Continue

Rhetoric Amuck

Sure, it's wire time. That final frenzy before we elect our next president. I expect there to be some crazy things said. Truthfully, there's nothing wrong with a little mud-slinging. We should be proud of our fellow citizens that passionately defend their beliefs. Yet I believe that most would agree that there is a line that exists between civility and chaos. Of course, where that line is drawn is certainly debatable. This is an age old problem, but there are some new facets brought about by ou… Continue

Time Budget

I started thinking about time and how we use it. The first thought that came to my mind was how time is a resource, much like money. I'm sure that we all have thought of this, but a few things that seem more applicable to the 'here and now' struck me with particular force. First and foremost I am realizing that the traditional 8-5 job is disappearing, or at least it seems that the boundries between work-time and life-time are eroding. I personally do a lot of work in the evenings: phone calls,… Continue

Presidential Experience

Does a presidential candidate need experience? This analysis of our past presidents finds no correlation between the amount of experience and whether that person was a great president or not. This is not to say that experience doesn't matter. I would argue that experience is not something that you can count on your fingers, rather it is the sum of all that a candidate brings to the table.
