Dan Quayle May Be Dancin' With The Stars

If this rumor is true, the producers of Dancing with the Stars are hard up for so-called celebrity dancers. Former US Vice President (and fellow Hoosier) Dan Quayle, is rumored to be on the short list for next season. Alas, there's no shortage of dumb ideas. The official announcement will be made soon on ABC news program, Good Morning Ameri… Continue

The Sometimes Humorous Side of Social Networking: Facebook / eHarmony Parody Video

Sure, social networks are powerful, paradigm-shifting technologies that are changing the way software and services are being developed. They're great tools for networking, finding jobs, locating information, and congregating together online (and in person) with others who share the same interests as we do. I've started my own global network of content professionals and it's proved to be ext… Continue

The Document as Application: The Convergence of Document Publishing and Application Development

The worlds of document publishing and application development are converging. Traditionally, publishing processes focused on static documents in print, PDF, HTML, and other formats. While the Web introduced rich media formats, this only provided a more compelling multidimensional rendering of static information. The reality is that business depends on dynamic data, and static documents only provide a snapshot in time. Users who need the most current information possible must go to the source –… Continue

Scott:

Good morning. I'm with the Indianapolis Chamber of Commerce and I believe we may have some resources you would find beneficial. If you get the chance, maybe we could grab coffee or lunch. Let me know if you're going to be downtown and have an extra 30 minutes or so.

Thanks,
Brady Jacoba

Hi Scott,

You've asked a fair question. Briefly, I am a freelance writer and editor who likes to create impact, preferably societal, for the success of a project.

I usually look for projects that take a complicated subject and "translate" it into the everyday language of the target audience. I worked for a Spanish bilingual newspaper at one time, even though I am by no means fluent in Spanish. I only wrote the English portion but knew enough about who I was addressing to make it work in English and was also conceptually clear when translated into Spanish.

I seem to seem to have a marketing mindset--it took me quite a while to figure this out--and an intense desire to communicate key issues to "the audience." Without a doubt, I have seen the healthcare community struggle to explain what could happen, and what should be done, if we face a flu pandemic in the United States. Everyone spoke English but not the same daily language. When I read about the DocTrain event--I spent (too much) time on the web site reading the workshop descriptions--I sensed a fit for future articles, or perhaps, writing marketing materials. Positioning a concept in the target audience mind is crucial--and I observe misses are common.

This note to you is far too long. If you want to know who I write for ( so far), feel free to call me (317.882.3198). I realize those passes are to benefit the objectives of the organization. Again, calling would save time since I am on deadline for several articles and will not return to Smaller Indiana for several days. Thanks for your time!
